From 85 Yaowarat Road
In 1938, on the eve of World War II, Kong Kuad Fong, the visionary founder of SONGSMAI, foresaw a cultural shift in Thailand as international dressing etiquette grew popular.
With his expertise in precise pattern-making and mastery of the sewing machine, along with his experience managing the shop, he established SONGSMAI at 85 Yaowarat Road.
His goal was pure and simple: to ensure that Thai people could look smart and stylish while adapting to the changing times. As the business flourished, he expanded eastward, elevating SONGSMAI to one of the top brands of the era, with highest standard of tailoring.
Service to the
U.S. Military and Gentlemen
From the 1950s to the 1970s, when Bangkok was a top vacation destination for U.S. servicemen, SONGSMAI proudly served many G.I.s and gentlemen, known for its promise of the highest quality and a dedicated service center for U.S. military officers.
This experience deepened our expertise, allowing us to master fitting a wide range of body types and creating patterns for the perfect fit.
This knowledge has since been passed down as one of our core strengths—our skillful master cutters and coat makers, who uphold international standards of tailoring.
The flagship store at 213 Sirindhorn Road
Throughout every era, modern Thai individuals have sought to make a statement, even as the definition of style evolved. SONGSMAI expanded in two key ways.
First, we extended our product line to include governmental and corporate uniforms, ensuring everyone could make a smart statement with neat, high-quality attire. Second, after expanding to Sirindhorn Road in 1999, we opened our flagship store there in 2005, strategically located between the vibrant heart of Bangkok and major governmental establishments.
Most special commissions continue to be meticulously hand-cut and sewn at this very location to this day.

Today, experience meets modernization as Jon and Jason, the third generation of our family business, remain committed to preserving SONGSMAI's iconic status in Thai tailoring. With a deep commitment to decency and integrity, they honor the brand’s legacy while embracing a contemporary twist that appeals to modern spirits.
With 8 branches, their ambition is to continue SONGSMAI’s success for the next 80 years, always adapting to customer needs—whether for suits, formal wear, uniforms, or casual attire. Jon and Jason believe everyone deserves the right to make a smart statement with neat, high-quality clothing.
